Prescribing of over the counter medicines is changing! For more information and support please visit the NHS website, nhs.uk/OTCmedicines

Our aim is to keep our patients fit and healthy. Prevention is far better than cure and many serious conditions can be prevented by a healthy life style.

Appointments for the flowing health clinics can be made through the reception staff:

  • COPD
  • ECG
  • IMMS

TRAVEL CLINICS- Travel vaccinations are done by appointment system with the nurse. In the first instance a Travel Questionnaire should be requested from the surgery or printed from our website. It should be completed and brought with you to your appointment to enable a nurse to determine what vaccinations you need. Ideally this should be planned 6 weeks before travelling; however, if time is limited, the nurses can still offer valuable advice.

FLU CLINICS - An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with asthma, heart, neurological disease, immuno suppression, liver, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, carers, patients over 65 years of age and residents of nursing and rest homes. Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are housebound, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.

Antenatal Clinic - Wednesday 9:30-11:30. Patients are seen by the midwife at the clinic by appointment.

FAMILY PLANNING - The practice offers a full family planning service including coil fitting, Implanon fitting, cap fitting and emergency contraception.

All the doctors in the practice carry out a programme of health and development screening in conjunction with the health visitors. Parents are invited to register their new baby for child health surveillance that continues until five years of age.

ASTHMA CLINIC - This is run by the practice nurse by appointment.

ECG - This is run by the Health Care Assistant by appointment.

COPD - This is run by the practice nurse by appointment.

The NHS does not cover medical examinations for insurance purposes, pre-employment, certain driving licences and fitness to travel or participate on some sports. Please ask the receptionist for details of our comprehensive list of fees and make a special appointment, if required.

Certificates other than the standard DSS certificates may incur a fee. This also applies to reports to private medical companies.

Doctors’ certificates are only needed after the first week off. For up to one week of sickness self-certificates should be used which we will be happy to supply. If you need a certificate for the first week for any reason, this will be a private note for which there is a charge.
